The challenge: 

As the Christmas peak approached, our client – a leading UK food company –engaged Reed Talent Solutions to immediately find managerial staff for its West Yorkshire sitein time for the festive period. 

Our client had previously attempted their own campaign to little avail and approached us for a fast, effective result.  

Their requirement involved recruiting graduates and trainees outside normal recruitment boundaries for the client’s first ‘Trainee Manager Programme’. 

Within this programme, candidates are appointed on a four-year, fixed-term contract to operations, commercial or technical placements, while also externally enrolling onto a business or technical degree.  

The solution: 

We sourced, screened, and submitted candidates to assessment centres over an eight-to-10-week period, ensuring they were available to start at the beginning of the next academic year. 

By utilising our market-leading recruitment technology, and using additional intelligence gathered by our talent partners, we were able to ensure our client was engaging with the very best new talent. 

Along with our candidate assessments at each assessment centre event, we also provided recruitment support and guidance to ensure the manager programme was the right fit for candidates. The success of our campaign was based on:

The results: 

We recruited 14 candidates to the ‘Trainee Management Programme’ across the required multiple locations and disciplines – a 100 per cent fill rate which enabled our client to work at full capacity during the festive season.  

Throughout the campaign, we screened over 200 applicants and all of those who were offered roles successfully enrolled in their university degree courses. 

We completed a full review of the processes, challenges, and successes for our client, providing support when planning their recruitment campaign for the following year.  

Our quick turnaround time and the calibre of our candidates were praised by our client, and we received positive feedback for our overall performance.
