Equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging (EDI&B) policies and practices have never been more important. In a world of increased visibility, and also volatility, ensuring your services are actively working towards these principles is important for both your staff and those who draw on your services.

But what do these words mean in the context of social care, and how can an organisation begin to work towards creating both meaningful and measurable change in the right direction?

Our speakers joined us for an insightful discussion designed for senior professionals in social work. The discussion focused on the role of EDI&B in service design, delivery, management, and strategy.

Iain MacLeod, EDI&B Consultant at Reed Talent Solutions, shared insights on the importance of data in EDI&B, why we collect it, and how we measure change, before Jo Sutherland, Principal Social Worker and Adults Technical Director, discussed the role of EDI&B on the frontline, working with marginalised groups, and insights from CQC inspections.

In an increasingly complex world in which social care services are delivered, we shed light on not only strategies which can help address the challenges faced in working towards these principles, but also the value that a successful implementation can bring to a service – and the positive outcome it can have on those who access that service.
